My birth philosophy is simple. Women were meant to birth. When left alone, birth almost always happens perfectly. Women deserve to be provided with informed consent, respect and support in their birth choices. With these three things in place, birth will have more favorable outcomes.

I believe birth has the ability to empower women and strengthen marriages and bonds with any friends or family present. Pain can certainly be a part of labor and birth but I believe much can be done to decrease or interrupt these pain signals and also to inform the expectant parents about the usefulness of all sensations during birth, even the most intense. I also believe taking the fear out of the whole process is key to an enjoyable birth experience. My job is to educate, advocate, and to provide support for a woman and her partner prenatally, during labor and postpartum. This is YOUR birth! It is important to have knowledgeable support who will truly listen to you. Regardless of the amount of pregnancies or births you have had and regardless of your birth outcome, I believe every woman can benefit and deserves to have a doula.

I am a mom of 4 kids ages 5, 3, and 1 year twins. I was able to achieve my optimal birth with assistance from some doula friends of mine. I decided to become a doula because I wanted to help people be able to find and achieve their optimal birth through information, support, and a caring hand.
